In accordance with the UNESCO goals and objectives, International Sustainable Energy Development Centre under the auspices of UNESCO (ISEDC) carries out the UNESCO/ISEDC Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme for professionals of the energy sector and allied industries (ecology, environmental protection, green technologies) from developing countries and countries in transition.

The purpose of this educational initiative is to create a multinational platform for the development of international cooperation in the field of energy issues between professionals. The main emphasis of the Programme is made on the relevant and topical issues, such as sustainable energy development, renewable energy, environment protection, development of cooperation in the field of energy technologies, strengthening the international human capacity development in the energy sector.

Over 8 years of the Programme (11 educational sessions), 179 highly skilled professionals from 78 countries of Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe participated in the UNESCO/ISEDC Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme.

The UNESCO/ISEDC Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme was highly appreciated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization during the 36th session of the UNESCO General Conference.
