The meeting confirmed a decision to launch a new global campaign entitled.

06 07 10On July 6, 2010, a delegation from the US Embassy in Moscow headed by Tyler Tiller, Energy Attache, Christina Hansel, Environmental Analyst, and Irina Aksenova, Senior Specialist on US Embassy Energy Policy, visited the International Centre for Sustainable Energy Development (“the Centre”).

Vladimir Kalamanov, director general of the Centre, informed the guests about the Centre's key objectives, tasks and areas of activity and focused on its growing potential and worldwide cooperation priorities.

cub isedcOn June 11, 2010 the Grand Palais Exhibition Hall in Paris was a venue for a round table discussion called "Cooperation in Energy" prepared within the scope of the Russian National Exhibition which is held as a part of the "cross" Years of Russia and France and was opened by Russian Prime-Minister Vladimir Putin.

The round table was organized by Russian Ministry of Energy, Russian Energy Agency and International Sustainable Energy Development Centre. 

21In the period from May 31 to June 2, 2010 a Managing Director of the international company "Conning" Mr. Markus van der Burg visited Moscow with a working visit. He introduced the results of the preparatory phase to the implementation of the UNECE project "Financing Energy Efficiency Investments for Climate Change Mitigation".

The project is expected to be realized in 12 countries of Eastern Europe and CIS countries, including Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation and Ukraine. The project will last 7 years.

students 3 2From April 5 to May 21, 2010 the third phase of UNESCO and ISEDC educational program in the sphere of renewable energy and sustainable energy development took place in Moscow. 

The retraining program was targeted at specialists from developing countries and countries in transition who have a professional command of the Russian language and significant experience in the sphere of energy and management, as well as at lecturers at energy higher educational institutions.

This is the next stage of joint program “Sustainable Energy and Investments" of ISEDC, Renaissance Finance International and British Embassy.

cub isedcInternational Sustainable Energy Development Centre jointly with Renaissance Finance International and British Embassy held regional workshop "Sustainable Energy and Investments" on February 25-26, 2010, in Voronezh during III Voronezh Industrial Forum.  

The objective of the workshop was to train specialists on basic rules and standards of preparation of projects to be financed by European financial institutions and resulting improvement of investment attractiveness of Russian regional projects. 

7The articles included in this issue address strategic issues of sustainable energy development such as energy policy and management, education and training, science and new technologies. 

Editorial board would like to express its gratitude to Sergey Shmatko, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, for his article "STRATEGIC MILESTONES OF THE RUSSIAN STATE ENERGY POLICY" in which he describes the Russian state energy strategy aimed at ensuring maximum efficiency of use of national energy resources in the coming years.
