Between June 5 and September 15, 2023, a total of 262 submissions were received from Russia and 23 countries from across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Latin America. Two-thirds of the submissions came from 26 regions of Russia.

The contest includes eight categories:

  • Best article on energy in a nationwide media outlet;
  • Best article on energy in a regional media outlet;
  • Best article on energy from a news agency;
  • Best Telegram channel or blog on energy;
  • Best TV spot on energy from a nationwide TV channel;
  • Best TV spot on energy from a regional TV channel;
  • Best press service in the energy industry;

A panel of independent experts has selected 48 best submissions (six in each category) to be reviewed by the competition’s judges. The judge panel includes representatives of major media holdings, TV channels, news agencies and business publications.

“The vast geography of the competition offers yet another proof of the important role the energy industry plays in the life of cities, regions and countries at large. The submissions for the competition covered not only the development of various energy businesses but also the lives of people working in the energy sector. This broad focus gives us a deeper insight into the life of the industry that forms the backbone of modern civilisation,” said Sergey Brilev, President of the Global Energy Association.

The winners will be announced during the Russian Energy Week, an international forum to be held in Moscow between October 11 and October 13, 2023.
