Russia's first electric car should appear later this year, said Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov in an interview. According to him, serial production of the car under the Zetta brand will start in Togliatti. The cost of a three-door car in a basic configuration should amount to 450 thousand rubles.

As expected, mass production of these machines should have started in the middle of the year, but the pandemic has made some adjustments. Also, the Minister noted that the company needed an additional 100 million rubles of investment. The Industrial Development Fund will consider the allocation of funds in August.

"As of today we have received a WMI code, which defines the status of the car manufacturer and assembled pre-production electric cars, the stage of certification of cars is completed by 70%," said the Minister.

The Zetta in its basic version is a compact three-door vehicle with electric drive on two or four wheels. Depending on the configuration, the battery of the electric car should cover a distance of 200 to 560 km, and its maximum speed is 120 km/h.

It is assumed that all car components, except the battery, will be of domestic manufacture.

It took three years to develop the first electric car, earlier investments into the project were estimated at 450 million rubles.

If the model is successful, Russia will be ready to export the electric car.
