During the last fourth week of training (October 26-30), fellows of the UNESCO/ISEDC Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme visited Russian and international exhibitions and congresses and presented their course works.
On October 26, a scientific and educational seminar took place at the International Sustainable Energy Development Centre under the auspices of UNESCO (ISEDC), in the framework of the 9th session of the UNESCO/ISEDC Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme "Effective Use of Energy Resources".
The main emphasis of the seminar was made on relevant issues within the framework of the programme, such as energy saving and conservation, renewable energy, environmental protection, development of cooperation in the field of energy technologies, strengthening the international human capacity development in the energy sector. The event was supervised by the leading ISEDC experts, in particular Deputy Executive director Mr. Vladimir Berdin, Director of Department of strategic planning and partnership Mr. Ilya Kramarenko and Chief of educational sector Mr. Aleksandr Antonov. During the seminar experts shared their experience in the field of energy efficiency, renewable energy technologies and sustainable energy development. They also held interactive lectures and organized communication panels to discuss topical issues within the educational course. Fellows thanked the ISEDC experts for conducting very informative seminar and interesting lectures.
On October 27, fellows visited International Congress "Renewable Energy XXI century: energy and economic efficiency REENCON XXI". The event was devoted to the development of renewable energy sources and energy storage systems in Russia and interstate associations with the participation of Russia, and also the Congress aimed at consolidating the efforts of scientists, engineers, representatives of expert and the business community, educational institutions, as well as the all levels of legislative and executive authorities in Russia, the EAEC and CIS to promote the major trend in the development of efficient and clean energy sector – creation of energy supply systems based on the comprehensive utilization of renewable energy and intellectual elements of active-adaptive grid (including energy storage systems). The fellows had an excellent opportunity to meet with leading Russian and foreign experts, participate in the Congress debates and establish business ties with the scientific community.
On October 28, the group of international fellows visited annual forum and exhibition "Open Innovations". The forum is a global discussion platform that is dedicated to emerging technologies and furthering innovation prospects and collaboration worldwide. On the official invitation of organizers of the annual forum and exhibition “Open Innovations” fellows of the 9th session of the UNESCO/ISEDC Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme were invited to participate in the event. International fellows were accompanied at the forum and exhibition by the ISEDC Chief of Educational sector Mr. Aleksandr Antonov and the ISEDC expert of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources Mr. Mikhail Lyalin. The events, concerned with innovation technologies for energy development, new approaches to global education and modern methods of energy conservation, arose great interest among fellows. They actively participated in discussions on innovative technologies, energy saving and effective energy consumption, and also visited a large-scale international exhibition presented by advanced products and technologies of the Russian and international companies. The majority of topics of the exhibition were related to the main subject of the Fellowships Programme – effective use of energy resources.
On October 29, an examination seminar took place at the Ecological faculty of People's Friendship University of Russia. The expert committee consisted of faculty study director Mrs. Olga Rodionova, applied ecology chairman Dr. Margarita Redina, faculty lecturer Ms. Yelizaveta Anikina and Chief of ISEDC Educational sector Mr. Aleksandr Antonov. During the seminar fellows presented their course works on situations and prospects of energy development in their countries and recorded video appeal to all further participants of the fellowships programme. The exchange of knowledge, experience and information was mutually useful for both parties – lecturers and fellows.
On October 30, the 9th Session of the UNESCO/ISEDC Co-Ыponsored Fellowships Programme for specialists from developing countries and countries in transition was ended up by the graduation ceremony of awarding certificates. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Yury Posysaev, ISEDC Executive Director; Mrs. Nataliya Chernyk, Dean of the Ecological faculty of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia; Dr. Margarita Redina, Head teacher of the education programme; Mr. Alexander Antonov, Chief of ISEDC Educational sector; and Mr. Mikhail Lyalin, expert of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources sector at ISEDC. Mr. Posysaev congratulated the graduates with the completion of the training course and wished everyone success in further professional activities. Mrs. Chernykh told about the present and future prospects of the Ecological faculty and invited fellows to continue their professional training at the faculty as Ph. D. students. Upon the end of closing speech, Mr. Posysaev and Mrs. Chernykh awarded fellows with certificates of completion of the UNESCO/ISEDC Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme and expressed their hope for further cooperation. International fellows, in their turn, returned thanks to management, lecturers and experts of ISEDC and PFUR for organizing hospitable conditions of their stay in Moscow and their participation in the 9th session of Fellowships Programme.
