On September 21, 2010 a meeting of the Thematic Working Group on energy strategies, forecasts and scenarios will take place in the International Sustainable Energy Development Centre under the auspices of UNESCO (ISEDC) within the scope of the EU-Russia energy dialogue.
The representatives of the European Commission (EC), of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, of the International Energy Agency (IEA), of the Energy Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ERIRAS) and of some other organizations will arrive to ISEDC to take part in this event.
The participants are intended to discuss the questions concerning further prospects of energy cooperation between Russia and EU countries. The leading Russian and international experts will pay particular attention to the consideration of important strategic topics concerning the innovations in the field of using alternative renewable energy sources and its influence on energy efficiency growth.
The Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation will present the State energy-saving and energy-efficiency program in Russia for the period up to 2020. The EC General Department on energy is planning to demonstrate new scenarios of energy development for the period up to 2030.
At the ISEDC meeting the specialists of the leading organizations of the European community in the field of energy are going to hold a preliminary discussion of the “Road Map” of energy cooperation development between Russia and EU up to 2050.
This event will become another stage in the process of developing a long-term strategy of cooperation between Russia and EU in energy sphere.
- “Following the meeting it is planned to create a subgroup on strategic innovations that will strengthen considerably this area of activity within the scope of EU-Russia energy dialogue”, says Marina Lastovskaya, director of the Department on scientific-expert and analytical activity. – “The Thematic Group on energy efficiency is supposed to participate in the discussion and this is a very important moment of this meeting”.
