06 07 10On July 6, 2010, a delegation from the US Embassy in Moscow headed by Tyler Tiller, Energy Attache, Christina Hansel, Environmental Analyst, and Irina Aksenova, Senior Specialist on US Embassy Energy Policy, visited the International Centre for Sustainable Energy Development (“the Centre”).

Vladimir Kalamanov, director general of the Centre, informed the guests about the Centre's key objectives, tasks and areas of activity and focused on its growing potential and worldwide cooperation priorities.

The Center works globally and is involved in energy efficiency and energy-saving projects. Deputy Director Evgeny Nadezhdin made a presentation of a project titled “Investing in Energy Efficiency to Mitigate Climate Change”. The project aims to establish an investment fund worth 250 million euros operating as a public-private partnership. This fund will finance a portfolio of new and already existing projects. Mr Nadezhdin also dwelt on the cooperation with UNDP, EBRD and UNECE.

Marina Lastovskaya, head of research division, briefed on the thematic groups of energy efficiency and energy strategies, forecasts and scenarios under the EU-Russia Energy Dialogue. She told about an enhanced Early Warning Mechanism aiming to reduce energy supply risks.

According to Ms Lastovskaya, experts in sustainable energy development are receiving training in France to improve their professional skills.
The Centre runs an educational program to retrain specialists from developing and CIS countries. The program targets those who know Russian and have substantial experience in energy and management fields and teachers from energy universities.

The American guests have expressed interest in all the programs and activities of the Centre.
