arctick polar icecapWith relatively little data available about the Earth’s Polar Regions – posing risks for people and the environment – the United Nations weather agency has kicked off of a two-year international effort to close gaps in polar forecasting capacity and to improve future environmental safety at the farthest reaches of the planet.

vie18The latest United Nations report on energy-efficiency technologies shows that low-carbon technologies apparently aid clean air, save water and cut land use, and could reduce 25 billion tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions and 17 million tonnes of particulates a year.

bonn climate change conference2017An important event on climate change science will be held on 10 May at the UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn. This year’s annual meeting of the “Research Dialogue” will focus on regional climate information and gaps, as well as on science to take stock of and assess progress on mitigation.
